The Dual Perspective: Frontline Care Meets Lived Experience
I didn’t learn about healthcare gaps from a textbook. I learned about them from both sides of the bed rail. For four years, I worked as a Care Worker and Senior Care Worker, completing my apprenticeship alongside NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care. I managed care plans, mentored staff, and understood the exact pressures frontline teams face during every busy shift.
Then, a medical crisis put me on the other side of that relationship, exposing a critical blindspot in how complex neurological conditions are handled on the ground.
⚠️ Trigger warning: this video talks about a medical emergency and nearly losing my life.
My transition from care worker to patient happened overnight.
